Site Design Details
The site is a bespoke minimalist design using a CSS grid framework. The Golden Grid CSS framework by Vladimir Carrer is just 1kb in size and allows for rapid prototyping and production of web templates. It is a beautifully simple concept.
I used the Grid System Generator to create the basic grid CSS.
Initial inspiration came from Modern Clix the minimalist Word Press theme but I wanted something a bit more magazine in feel so I added a bit of red and then to make the main reader focus the RH content area I made the text in the LH column and footer grey. Hopefully I haven’t completely ruined the minimalist ideal with my pragmatic approach to the need for many links in the RH column and the use of red in the type.
The site is run using Textpattern the wonderful free CMS and blogging application. I need to do some teaks to try and get the site running a bit faster. The tag cloud is produced using Nathan Arthur’s tru_tags plugin. Textpattern tag cloud plugin

If you would like to use it with Textpattern please write to me. I’ll probably be happy to let you have the thing FOC but you will have to make a bit more effort to install it than you would a released design. If I have time I may polish it a bit and release it to the Textpattern community.
